I follow a lot of running groups on FB. This particular one posted a reader’s question of how to feel safe on runs in the dark.
Getting a gun permit and carrying a gun on runs seems a bit excessive. Not to mention uncomfortable.
I’m not making a political statement just an observation.
RTP Wk 18 Day 1 Sunday
I started my half training today even though the Hanson’s plan has the official start on Thursday of this week. For me I have to start at the beginning of the week. The middle or end of the week is like trying to put your pants on starting with the opposite leg first. (you’re all trying to think of which leg you put in first aren’t you?)
I’ve already got a base built but the plan says to just keep doing what I’m doing and let the plan catch up so these next 2-3 weeks will be all about getting used to training on the treadmill. I am so impressed with everyone that can get out there and run in the cold. *shiver* that’s not me though.
I’ve always had an issue trying to sync the treadmill and the Nike+ app. Usually the app is slower than the treadmill but today it was faster. Way faster. I had 3 miles to do at 7.0-7.2 mph which equals 8:34 - 8:20 pace. For some reason the app registered paces between 8:17 - 7:36 and a further distance than what the treadmill read.
Oh well, I guess it balances out all those times I had to run further on the treadmill to get to the correct mileage on the app. I really shouldn’t get so hung up on these numbers.
100 days until spring!
Today, actually now yesterday as I’m writing this post at 12:22am, was my mom’s birthday. I totally spaced it out and forgot. Ooops. Sorry mom.
In my defense, I was preoccupied with trying to find something to wear to the company Christmas party and then attending said party.
Fingers crossed the card I mailed made it there on time.
Say five facts about yourself and then send this to ten of your favorite followers who you absolutely love. ♥
I always draw a blank when people ask me to tell them about myself so thank you for keeping this only 5 things! LOL :)
1. I have very few friends who are women. I have a low tolerance for drama or how fake women can be.
2. I pretty much only watch one channel on tv - Bravo.
3. I cuss like a sailor in normal conversation. I drop the F bomb at least once in every other sentence.
4. I was born in Winona, MN - the city that Winona Ryder was named after. We were born the same year - 1971.
5. My eyes have been 3 different colors so far - blue when I was young, grey when I was a teenager and currently are green.
Another beautiful 60 degree day today. It’s December 3rd people!!! It should be 30 not 60. Oh wait, yeah that’s on it’s way and will be landing here Thursday. Boo.
Tonight’s run had the most consistent splits I have ever run:
My app was acting up and I wasn’t getting the audio feedback so maybe that was a good thing.
I’m getting nervous about starting my half training next week. I’ll be following the Hansons half plan from their website which is an 18 week plan. If this was April or May, I wouldn’t even think twice about whether I would be able to do it. January/February are usually KC’s worst months for ice/snow/below zero temps. The thought of running 10-12 miles on a treadmill is just dreadful.
Are there any 8 week half plan’s out there?
WTH has happened to her face??? Kim Kim Kim….stop with the injections already.
60 degrees in KC on December 1st - YES!! I missed out on the running group run this morning but why run in 25-30 degrees when you can wait a few more hours and run when it’s sunny and 60 out? That’s a no brainer. Got in 6 very stop and go miles due to heavy traffic. I had to stop at just about every intersection. All that stopping combined with a hilly route had my legs feeling very heavy for the last two miles. I’ve got a long way to go to running 13.1 in April.
6.1 miles / 52:17 / 8:33 avg pace
I really enjoyed having most of this week off work. Disappointed the Chiefs lost but my Hawkeyes won and Mizzou won so 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
Beautiful morning run, sun was shining and just a little bit of breeze. I’ll take every day of winter like this please!
Pictures are the little bit of “country” the makes up the country club community I run through. Followed by the fossil hunt for my son’s assignment. Actually was easier to find those things than I thought.
One more day of vacation. I don’t think I will need to eat this week after these past few days of over indulgence.
Sorry not sorry! GO HAWKS!
